  • cbq update to support shaping iptables marks (iptables marks are set in the firewall script)
  • full layer-7 support via iptables, providing the ability to shape and firewall p2p and other forms of traffic
  • virtual distribution system (vds) support has been included (see included notes)
  • beacon, a realtime traffic monitor has been included, and will assist in network management and troubleshooting
  • ntp client and timezone support has been included
  • the dmesg log window (F9) has been replaced with a system logger with time and date stamps. ntp must be configured in order for accurate time keeping
  • pressing F9 multiple times while the system log window is open will update the displayed log
  • ui desktop background color is now black, with an option to change it back to blue via the advanced menu
  • ui desktop service section has been reworked to show more service states, yellow represents an enabled service
  • system date and time is now displayed on the desktop. ntp must be enabled for the time to be accurate
  • Release Caveats:
      • by design: systems that have remote system logger enabled will require their server ip to be re-entered once upgraded
      • bug - 2004-11-25: beacon 'tx' readings will be 0 when operating on a bridged interface. will be fixed in next beta.

      • mppe support requires mss clamping to be enabled

      • vds provides the ability to create peer-to-peer connections between systems. the resulting vds interface works much like a standard ethernet adapter in that you can assign ips and routes, plus has the ability to be bridged
    • ntp:
      • there are many public ntp servers. some good ones are located here: http://ntp.isc.org/bin/view/Servers/NTPPoolServers

  • Update: Atheros client-side signal levels have now been updated to better reflect the signal based on rate, and tpc levels of the AP. previously they were based on the AP's beacons which are always at a constant rate, and do not take into consideration any tpc options on the AP. This change also requires traffic flowing through the client for the signal levels to be updated. Once the card is activated, the signal may show artificially low, but will average out to the proper levels after a few seconds of traffic flow.
